The format for this event is of course, Extended. As the event is DCI Sanctioned with a rules enforcement level (REL) of Competitive, deck lists are required and participants are likewise responsible for pen, paper and appropriate game counters.
Registration begins at 9:15 AM with a prompt 10:00 AM start time. Entry into the evnt is $25.00.
The winner of this event qualifies to play at Pro Tour San Juan on May 28th thru the 30th, including FREE air fare! Additional product prizes will be awarded based on attendance.
Tournament Structure
The structure for Pro Tour–San Diego Qualifier tournaments will be modified Swiss-style, with the Top 8 players playing in a single-elimination format for prizes and invitation(s).
Tournament Format
The format for Pro Tour–San Juan Qualifier tournaments is Extended.
- The Worldwake expansion is not legal for use in the Extended format until February 5, 2010. Events held prior to this date will not use the Worldwake expansion
- Deck lists are required
Tournament Length
- Swiss rounds - 50 minutes per round
- Top 8 matches have no time limit
- Number of Swiss rounds based on attendance according to the following chart:

Advancement
- All players may participate in all Swiss rounds.
- The top 8 players after the final Swiss round will advance to the top 8 single-elimination finals.
Top 8
- Top 8 matches will be best 2 of 3
- Top 8 matches will have no time limit
- Where necessary, the standings after the Swiss rounds will still be used to determine final order in the standings.

- The Magic: The Gathering Tournament Rules and Infraction Procedure Guide are in effect for this event unless specifically overruled by information in this Format Document
- Players must bring pen, paper, card sleeves and appropriate counters.
- Dealers will be on site. While trading is allowed and even encouraged, the exchanging of cash for any reason is NOT allowed. This includes "stepping outside." Violators will be politely asked to leave and/or disqualified from the event with out a refund and forfiet any prizes won.
Invitations, Eligibility, and Prize Money
Players already holding an invitation to Pro Tour–San Juan are prohibited from participating in any Pro Tour–San Juan Qualifiers, with the exception of Grand Prix tournaments. Players may have earned invitations through cumulative past performance in the Pro Tour, appropriate Pro Tour Players Club level, winning a previous Qualifier, finishing Top 16 at a Grand Prix tournament, or by being an invited DCI™ player (valid upon the date of the official ratings invitation announcement for the appropriate professional tournament).
